Brett Levy graduated from Howard Payne University and has dedicated more than three decades to ministry, first as a youth pastor and later as a family pastor. Today, Brett is the lead pastor at City Church in Georgetown, Texas. With a focus on handling the keys to the next generation and helping parents lead their families as the primary disciple maker, Brett brings a wealth of experience to both ministry and parenting. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Raley and Emerson. Through his work and speaking, Brett aims to inspire others to create lasting, meaningful relationships within their families and churches.
Foreword
Within these pages is a clear plan to help kids, love God, mature their faith in Jesus, and stay in the church. Brett Levy is part of a growing movement of God that is helping parents and ministry leaders understand the best model for the spiritual formation of young people is when the church and family team up to intentionally focus on raising young Christ followers who build a firm foundation of faith and take that vibrant faith into their adult years.
I think one of the most positive movements in the church today is an emphasis on living out an authentic life of integrity through family ministry. We are seeing a major focus in family ministry of the church and parents are beginning to see the importance of being intentional with faith development in the home. All research shows when parents focus on discipling their own children, there is a much better chance of kids staying in the church. Not to mention the practical side of less drug and alcohol abuse, better grades, and less confusion about their sexuality.
This book is filled with his personal stories that make the book so relatable and even fun to read. Brett weaves in great practical ideas with biblical examples, prayer examples, and other spiritual disciplines throughout the book. From the beginning he brings his life experiences in front of us and some of them, well, just made me laugh out loud. He was raised by a single mom who taught him how to throw a baseball and now he throws like a 30-something woman with minimal baseball experience. And you will have read the book to find out what he forgot to bring on his honeymoon.
