Job was a good man who lived long ago. Bible experts think he lived after the flood but before the time of Moses. He may have been alive at the time of Abraham, Lot, and Isaac, about 2200 B.C. 

The Old Testament book of Job tells his story. He had great wealth. He had a large family. He owned much livestock and had many servants to help him care for everything. Most importantly, Job loved God and obeyed the Lord. Job had a great life. 

One day, Satan told God that the only reason Job was faithful was because he was so blessed. Satan said if Job lost it all, he would turn away from his faith. God knew better; He believed Job would stay faithful. God gave Satan permission to test Job’s faith by making him suffer great losses. But God was right. Job never lost his faith completely. In the end, God restored everything to Job that had been lost.
